"Never Gonna Fall in Dearest Again" is a vocal co-written and recorded by American popular stone creative person Eric Carmen. It was released as the second single from Carmen's cocky-titled debut solo anthology, the song peaked at number 11 on the U.s. Billboard Hot 100 nautical chart in June 1976, remaining in the Tiptop twoscore for 10 weeks.[i] The vocal reached number 1 on the Billboard Easy Listening chart. In Canada, information technology was a number-1 striking on both charts.[two] [three]
The melody of "Never Gonna Fall in Love Once again" is based on the third movement (Adagio) from Symphony No. two by Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff.
On his second solo LP, Boats Against the Current, Carmen had a subsequent Top forty hit entitled "She Did Information technology", a happy reply to the loneliness and lovelessness described in this song and its equally melancholy predecessor, "All Past Myself".
Television operation [edit]
Carmen performed "Never Gonna Fall in Dear Again" and his prior hit, "All By Myself" on The Midnight Special television set program on July 23, 1976 (season 4, episode 37). The show was hosted by The Spinners.[4]

Australian singer songwriter Mark Holden recorded and released a version April 1976 as his debut unmarried. The song was a commercial success, peaking at number 13 on the Kent Music Report.[12] [13]
Groundwork and release [edit]
Marker Holden released his debut studio album Dawn in Darkness in 1975. Consisting entirely of original songs, the album was a commercial failure, selling approximately 2,000 copies[14] In April 1976 Holden received a call from Colin Petersen, EMI Music Australia'southward A&R, who suggested he comprehend "Never Gonna Fall in Love Once more". In his 2022 autobiography, Holden said recording it "was a take chances for me to have a hit". Holden promoted the song past performing the track on Countdown, where he performed the track while handing out red carnations to the audition. It became an infamous performance which led to Holden'due south nickname of "The Carnation Kid"[fifteen]

Unlike "All past Myself," Carmen'southward version of "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again" was not released in Australia and therefore did not nautical chart. Withal, Dana reached #31 in the Great britain in 1976 with the song.[16] Her British release charted meantime with Carmen's and Holden'southward versions.
Other versions [edit]
- Frank Sinatra performed the song many times in concert in the late 1970s, most notably during the 1976 MDA Telethon. Addicted of Eric Carmen's songs, he had arrangements fabricated of both this song and "All By Myself." He never recorded either vocal.
- Tony Burrows covered the song in 1976 with the studio group Magic.
- Spanish vocaliser Miguel Bosé also covered it (in English language) in his debut LP Linda in 1977.
- John Travolta covered the song in 1978.
- Tommy Folio covered the song on his 1991 anthology From the Center.
